Abstract

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is essential in the Military Police of the State of Goiás and aims to guide police actions, being part of the documental portfolio of that institute since 2003. Public management, base to constitutional principles, demands quality in services. This study aimed to evaluate the perception of CAPM military police officers regarding the applicability of POP 204, relating to procedures for stop-and-frisk people. The research, with an applied approach, whose reasoning method was deductive and with a qualitative and descriptive approach, used the technical procedures of bibliographical research and data collection using a questionnaire based on a Likert scale and applied via Google Forms. The survey had 124 anonymous volunteer respondents (response rate of 25,3%, CI 95%, estimated error of 7.6%), who highlighted the importance of POP for quality management. The results also indicated that, in the respondents' perception, following the SOP makes approaches safer, and they reported frequently using its guidelines in work situations. Furthermore, most respondents stated that the POP has already protected them in dangerous situations. Updating the SOP is seen as very important, and the training received is considered adequate by the majority. It was therefore inferred that the POP plays a fundamental role in promoting public safety and community trust in the Military Police.
