Abstract

On September 4, 2015, the first custody hearing took place in the State of Roraima, in a period marked by instabilities in the State penitentiary system and the incipient Venezuelan migratory crisis. Based on the facts and informations presented, the objective of this work is to address in a critical and considered analysis the reflection of the numbers of custody hearings already held in Boa Vista, Roraima’s capital, by the State Justice in the period from 2015 to 2020, with a special emphasis on the audiences of venezuelan immigrants from 2016 to 2020. For this purpose, will use the method of qualitative and quantitative research, bibliographic, jurisprudential and exploratory research of open source informations. In the course of this study, will be observed the reflexes in the boavistan society that generated the implementation of custody hearings, especially those related to venezuelan immigrant prisoners. It’s concluded, therefore, that the custody hearings in Boa Vista/RR contributed significantly to the control of overcrowding in prisons in the capital, which, contrario sensu, brought benefits to the reduction of crime rates, preventing brazilian prisoners and immigrants were to be recruited by criminal organizations operating within prisons on Roraima’s capital.
