The The impact of Catarina Women's Protection Network actions on culture and criminal prevention

Abstract

This work aims to highlight the importance of social impact and criminal prevention of protection actions carried out by Catarina Women's Protection Network, as a policing strategy, which goes beyond immediate assistance to the victim and constitutes a tool for cultural transformation of the stereotype built about role of men and women in the group impacted by the Network. For this, the inductive approach method was used, starting from particular propositions to the result analysis in general, obtaining, from there, the assumptions for the research conclusions. The research procedure adopted was data collection, with application of questionnaire to women victims of domestic and family violence attended by the Military Police garrison that works in Catarina Women's Protection Network at 5th Military Police Battalion headquarters, in the city of Tubarão / SC, as well as bibliographic research. The article was structured in three chapters, which addressed the legislative evolution affecting to the theme, the attribution of the Military Police related to crimes of domestic and family violence, the methodology used, as well as the analysis of the data obtained in the research. After these approaches, it can be concluded that Catarina Women's Protection Network performance is an effective policing strategy with regard to the prevention of crimes of domestic and family violence, the guarantee of women rights and the efficiency of state institutions, promoting changes in culture and behavior, translating into a model of police action that meets the complexity of the factors that involve this type of crime, since that traditional model of reactive policing no longer meets the preventive demands for this type of crime.
