Abstract

The following work is aimed at analyzing the evolution of violence against women in the State of Goiás, specifically in the great metropolis of Goiás, between the years 2016 and 2017, based on studies carried out through bibliographical researches, documentaries, newspapers and the index of growth or decrease and interview with the person in charge of the aggressors' monitoring program in the State of Goiás. Violence against women has existed since the beginning of history. The female being on several occasions was treated invisibly in the eyes of society, having reached greater visibility only from the 1970s, thanks to feminist movements. They had their social life and their rights suppressed by the male being. Violence against women is not only a matter of physical violence, but also attacks on their psychological, moral, heritage and sexuality. In 2006, in order to combat crimes committed against women, Law No. 11,340 / 2006, Lei Maria da Penha, was introduced, aimed at penalizing the perpetrators as well as protecting victims. Another important point to be highlighted in this study is the creation of the Maria da Penha Patrol, in the year 2015, within the scope of the Military Police, whose activity is the monitoring of compliance with the Security Measures of the victims of domestic violence. It is necessary to know whether or not such a program actually succeeds in its purpose and whether or not its action has contributed to a reduction in the recurrence of aggressions.
