Abstract

Itumbiara, a municipality in the south of Goiás that borders the state of Minas Gerais, is a tourist city, growing and targeted by the most diverse social groups, whether for stay, transit, or investment. Its location leaves it prone to the occurrence of several crimes characteristic of border towns, such as homicide, drug trafficking and burglary. For this reason, the present study sought to find in the official public security registers indicators that show the situation of such crimes in the city chosen for the research. For that, a temporal analysis was adopted considering the years from 2015 to 2017, where it was verified a decrease in the official records of the mentioned crimes, allowing the understanding that the activities of the military police are being efficient. It is worth mentioning that it has been dedicated to prevention activities, maintaining its characteristic of repression.
