Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate the perception of the military police on the representation of human rights and to identify if the military police officer recognizes the importance of these rights, in addition to evaluating the influence of human rights commissions in the police action. For that, a field survey was carried out by means of an anonymous structured questionnaire applied to the officers of the 17th BPM in the city of Águas Lindas - Goiás. It was verified that approximately half of the police officers recognize the importance of human rights in agreement with their creation, in which, it guarantees the guarantees and freedoms of all, but the rest believes that human rights arose only to defend bandits. The great majority of police officers agree that the foundation of human rights is deconstructed by the actions of commissions that do not admit the legitimate work of the police in the performance of the selective use of force and distort situations to favor the offender, victim of society. This research is important because it demonstrates the police officer's vision of the representativeness of Human Rights and stresses how much the influence of the Commissions affects the police action.
